Traveling from Chicago to Singapore

The flight from Chicago to Singapore was quite long.  I think the actual flight times "only" amounted to 18 hours, but seem considerably longer because Singapore time is 14 hours ahead of Chicago time.  We left at 2 PM from Chicago, and arrived in Singapore at 5:30 AM on Thursday, after a 4 hour layover in Hong Kong.  From Chicago to Hong Kong, it's 7,789 miles.  Hong Kong to Singapore is1,596 miles. We were very lucky to be traveling Business Class, so we had the seats that reclined to a horizontal position, so that we could sleep on the planes.  We tried to do that as much as possible, so that we could force our body clocks to convert to Singapore time.

We flew Cathay Pacific, which also helped our taste buds prepare for the cuisine in Singapore.  They served dishes including, "Stir-fried prawns and scallops with steamed jasmine rice, kailan, and carrots"and "Beef braised in onion and dark soya sauce, steamed jasmine rice, jade melon with red medlar and garlic" and, my personal favorite, "Seared prawns nantua with celeriac potato mash, haricot verte and cherry tomato".  That was what I ate when my body thought it was breakfast time.  A first; prawns and mashed potatoes for breakfast!
