Where's Lundeen Liquors When You Need Them?

Monday, I decided to investigate Liang Court (the furniture mall) again.  There were some things that I needed from the $2 store and the appliance store.  One of the things that I needed was a basting brush.  It didn't need to be anything fancy; just something I could use to brush oil onto vegetables, etc.  Sometimes I even go to the hardware store, and get a 2" paintbrush.  I couldn't find anything at the $2 store.  So I went to the giant Japanese grocery store.  I wandered around, marveling at all the stuff they do have in that store.  For example, they have a Tofu Factory.  They have several different kinds submerged in water.  You pick one out, and put it into a bag.  I'm not a tofu eater, so I haven't investigated it closely.  I'm sure that the way you get it out of the water is sanitary, but I'm not sure of the logistics.

So I was wandering around, looking for some type of brush to use as a basting brush.  We're having company for dinner this weekend, so I decided to check out the beverage section.  My two beverages of choice are iced tea, or red wine, so I had never ventured into this area before.  For the first time since we came to Singapore, I saw a case of Miller Lite.  Out of curiosity, I checked the price.  $78.90 for a case of Miller Lite.  Our friends, Dave and Julie Lundeen, own 4 liquor stores.  There have been many new entrants in the liquor selling business lately.  Dave and Julie often lament the fact that big chain stores can use a case of Miller Lite as a loss leader, to get people into the store to buy other things when they buy their beer.  Since Dave and Julie only sell liquor, they don't have that luxury.  If Osco, or Meijer's, or Wal-Mart is selling a case of Miller Lite for $11.99, Dave and Julie need to sell it for $11.99, also, or they're going to have a lot of stale beer.  Well, when I saw the price of a case of Miller Lite, my jaw dropped!  I had to take a picture for Dave and Julie!

This is where you can see the price of $78.90!

You can see the case, but the price isn't clear here.

Here's the tofu factory.
That evening, when I told Rich my story, he asked if I had taken a picture.  I told him that I had.  He told me I needed to write about it in my blog.  He said that Dave would load up his white van with cases of Miller Lite, and figure out a way to get that white van over here.  Please hurry, Dave!  Rich is just about of beer...
